To download reels or videos to your device you need to install a third-party app or download through online reel-download websites. I prefer a third-party app instead of a website because most websites are full of ads or link generators. Apps aren’t perfect either. But there is one app I use often to save reels without a lot of ads. The app is called Tubemate.

Let’s see how to download reels using this app.
Download Instagram Reels or videos using the TubeMate App
First, download and install the TubeMate app from the link I have given above.
- Open Instagram and copy the link of the reel or video you want to download. (To copy the reel link, click on the share button > click the copy link icon at the bottom of the screen)
- Now open the Tubemate app, paste the copied link in the search bar, and click enter. (If you open the tubemate app for the first time, it will ask you to accept the terms and conditions. Accept them to continue)
- Once the link loads, scroll down a little and click on the download option. It will take some time to parse the video for downloading. If it says parsing failed or shows any error, click on the download option again. (If it shows any warning, click on OK)
- After parsing is finished, it will ask you to select the download quality, select one from the available options and click on the download icon again. Now it will ask for a name. Name your video (you can name anything). And click OK and your video or reel will start downloading.
If you want to see the download process, click on the down arrow or download icon at the bottom of the screen (bottom bar). You will find the list of downloaded videos.
